Acupressure offers another avenue to actively participate in horse’s health. Ideally, an acupressure practitioner would be called in for preventive maintenance on a regular schedule, to assist your horse’s immune system in warding off external and internal woes. Acupressure is a non-invasive, gentle treatment process that assists the horse in healing itself. By keeping the body in balance, the horse resists pathogenic invaders and maintains a strong body.

The affects of acupressure have shown the ability to:

• Release endorphins to assist in reducing pain
• Relieve muscle spasms
• Assist in resolving injuries by removing wastes and increasing blood supply
• Enhance mental acuity required for training and performance
• Release natural cortisone to assist in the reduction of swelling
• Build, rebuild, or relax the immune system

Equine acupressure practitioners work to complement your veterinarian’s treatment plan, combining modern Western medicine with acupressure to enhance and maintain our horse’s health and rehabilitation potential.

An acupressure session will include: gathering a detailed history (from the caretaker as well as the veterinarian if necessary), visual observation, daily nutritional intake, and lifestyle of the horse, on the first visit to create a complete picture of what is present at the time of the session. After collecting all the data, Garnas Equine will discuss a session plan with you, outlining the objectives, scope, and potential outcome of what acupressure might be able to accomplish for the horse.
